15-year-old who didn't see the tram while looking at her phone thrown several meters

In May 2018, a 15-year-old girl in Munich was looking at her phone, didn't see an approaching tram and was hit head-on. She was thrown several meters but escaped with minor injuries.

Around 2:30 p.m. on May 3, 2018, a 15-year-old girl was hit head-on by a tram near the "Goethe-Institut" stop at the corner of Dachauer Straße and Heideckstraße in Munich.

Weil sie auf ihr Handy schaute, bemerkte sie die Straßenbahn nicht.

What this case shows

Tram stops are where people getting on and off mix with people crossing. If a child is looking at a screen just as a tram pulls in or out, the driver has almost no time to react.
