In the parent app, choose which apps trigger alerts. When your child uses one while walking, a small prompt appears first. If they continue, it changes to a full-screen warning.
Walking is detected on your child's phone, while current status, alert counts, and history also appear in the parent app. See smombie walking alerts for details.
Invite codes are valid for 5 minutes. If yours expires, create a new one from the child-connection screen in the parent app and enter it again.
The connection does not start, and location and app-usage information are not shared. Setup continues after your child reviews the information and agrees.
How we handle children's data is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Check the following on your child's device.
- Location permission is set to Allow all the time
- StepGuardian is excluded from battery optimization
- The device has an internet connection
- The device is not indoors or underground where GPS may be weak
Request deletion under Settings > Account > Delete in the parent app, or use the account and data deletion page without signing in. Web requests are confirmed through your sign-up email.
Deleting the parent account also deletes linked child data. Deletion is completed within 30 days after your request is confirmed.
Location, route, and detailed app-usage records are kept for up to 90 days, family chat for 60 days, and app-usage summaries for up to 13 months. They are deleted automatically when the period ends.
See the privacy policy for the full list.
Yes. The parent's location appears on the family map in the child app.
Both the parent and child apps work on Android 8.0 or later. An iPhone app is not available yet.
The child app does not create a child account. Enter the 6-digit code from the parent app and connect after your child agrees. No child email, phone number, or password is required.
The weekly report is written by generative AI and may contain errors. Check the source records in the map and screen-time views. If the same error keeps appearing, send it through contact.
Location and walking detection use battery. The amount varies by device, movement, permissions, and power-saving settings. If power saving stops StepGuardian in the background, location updates or walking alerts may be delayed or missed.
The child app shows protection status, the family map including the parent's location, family chat, and the information agreed to during setup. It also shows whether smombie walking alerts are on.
