We started with phone use while walking
StepGuardian centers on smombie walking alerts, with family location, agreed app times, and family chat in the same app.
Why we built walking alerts
Parents can't be there for every walk home with eyes on a screen. So we built walking alerts to let the child's own phone speak up.
In the parent app, choose which apps trigger alerts. When a selected app is used while walking, a prompt appears on the child's screen first, and status and alert history also appear in the parent app.

- Your child reviews and agrees
- The child app shows what will be shared and connects after your child agrees.
- The parent's location appears too
- The parent's location appears on the family map in the child app.
- Retention periods are published
- Data is deleted automatically after its stated retention period, which is listed in the privacy policy.
- Walking is detected on the child's phone
- Sensor data used to detect walking is processed only on the child's phone.
